    Hello,
    We need to move our Memphis Documents library from a subdomain to our main website. I tried using your export feature but it it seems to never complete so the zip file is not made.
    I also tried moving the values using myPhp by copying from the exisitng php wp_options table to the new memphis documentssetup. The mdcos-cats values copied just fine, but the mdocs list values will copy but not appear when trying to reupload the document.
    Is there another way to move these values? I would hate to have to start from scratch.
    Thanks

    Do you have a recommendation for a more enhanced search engine. Right now the search engine only searches for keyword in the document title. We would like to be able to search by author and tag as well.

    Hi,

    First of all, thanks for your plugin and your work !
    I have installed this tool on a client website, works fine but we have a problem of very slow page loading due to the preview thumbnail (some pages have too many documents to preview).
    I read in some other comments that you recommanded not to use this functionality, but it is a requirement from my client.
    What do you think about this possible fix :
    instead of regenerate thumbnails each time you display a page => save the thumbnails in a folder (if they don’t exist already), so you have just to load them once created, and you won’t have this problem of slow page loading anymore.

    Do you think that would be possible ?
    Thanks again !

      yes that could work, but at this time new functionality is on the back burner. I have no time for it currently.

        Thank you for your answer !

        I have tried this (and it seems to work), this is the function you can find on the mdocs-col-thumbnail-example.php file.
        In my case, I’m generating a png from a pdf.

        function mdocs_display_preview_thumbnail($the_mdoc) {
        if(get_option(‘mdocs-box-view-key’) != ” && get_option(‘mdocs-preview-type’) == ‘box’) {
        $boxview = new mdocs_box_view();
        ?>
        <img class="img-thumbnail mdocs-img-preview img-responsive" src="getThumbnail($the_mdoc[‘box-view-id’], $the_mdoc); ?>” alt=”” />
        setbackgroundcolor(‘rgb(64, 64, 64)’);
        $thumbnail->thumbnailImage(450, 300, true);
        $thumbnail->setImageFormat(‘png’);
        $thumbnail->writeImage($pngFile);
        }
        ?>
        <img class="mdocs-thumbnail img-thumbnail img-responsive" src="” alt=”” />

        <img class="img-thumbnail mdocs-img-preview img-responsive" src="/?mdocs-img-preview=” />
        <?php
        }
        }
        }

        BUT, it's obviously not recommanded to modify directly the plugin code. I tried to do it by removing the action on a custom plugin but it didn't work.
        I have this in my custom plugin :

        remove_action( 'wp_loaded', 'mdocs_register_example' );

        Then I call another action in my plugin :

        add_action('wp_loaded','mdocs_register_thumbnail');

        Is it not supposed to work or is there someting i missed in the way you implements the original action I want to remove ?

    Hi.
    First of all thanks for developing such a useful plugin.
    Being an illiterate in the world of websites and plugins, I need your help to make a few changes in how the plugin works, if possible. First, I’d like to find a way to limit the times each IP can download from my website; e.g. when a user downloads 10 PDFs in a day, he/she has reached the limit and has to wait till the next day so he can download again 10 files.
    Second, I wonder if there’s any way to disable the “comment” part for each document.

    Many thanks in advance.

      mDocs does not have the ability to restrict the amount of downloads from an IP address.

      To disable comments you have to enable ‘Show Memphis Posts Menu’ from the mDocs settings menu. Then goto each post and disable comments. This is a WordPress function not an mDocs function.

    Hi

    First thanks for your tool. I was searching all the morning until I found it (I tried so many tools and all had issues or weren’t what I was looking for.

    Now I just have a small question: is the background color somehow changeable?
    As with the white background it doesn’t look so well with my theme…

    You can see it here:

    Thanks for any help

      you can, you will need to add a line to your themes css file:

      #mdocs-list-table { background: [choose your color] !important; }

    Good afternoon; I’ve installed this plugin in two websites; in one it works well; in the other, from a client, you can’t see the pdf; I’ve followed all the steps, I’ve even created a box developer’s key, but it still doesn’t work. The theme of the wordpress is specific and has been made by another company and I can’t modify it; what can I do? Thank you

        thank you very much for answering
        I’ve created a new page on a working website. I had to modify some of the design with css in the page itself; but ‘something’ has the original web that does not allow the preview of the pdf; it does not ‘do anything’, it returns to the page of the listing
        click on the file _ options -> download = OK;
        click on the file _ options -> preview =NO;

        I’ve tried what you say in
        Disable Thrid Party Includes
        Bootstrap – Cover, Bootstrap – Desktop, Bootstrap Dropdown Correction
        but there’s no change.

        I have activated Use Box Documents Preview, but it doesn’t work either.

        On another website, it does work and I don’t know what else I can do
        There is some function disabled in the general configuration of this web, and I don’t know where to look.

        which function of mdocs-doc-preview.php should I mark as ! important in the post

          Good morning.
          I’ve checked the WP desktop to see if the preview works.

          in the js is this function that is not on the web
          function(a) {
          return void 0 === n || a && n.event.triggered === a.type ? void 0 : n.event.dispatch.apply(k.elem, arguments)
          }

          In the web environment: as a guest; no preview possible: re-show the current page And there’s not that feature I wrote upstairs

            on the website do you see any javascript errors when you click the preview button?

            —–
            for information:
            in WP desktop mode, both the file description and the preview work well.
            When visiting the website, neither the description nor the preview work.

            I’m sure it’s the programming of the website (which I didn’t do), and I can’t see where it overrides the functions.

            I have two solutions:
            a. tell the client that these two functions are not compatible with the security they have programmed for their website
            b. redirect to a new WP, as a subdomain with this plugin and all the functionalities.

            Muchas gracias

            I’ve tried it on both Windows and Linux OS
            with IExplore, Chrome and Firefox
            and the results are the same

            you need to figure out the difference between the 2 sites, whether its a theme issue or a plugin, something on the site that doesn’t work is different. If you can figure that out it will be easier to debug the problem.

    I love your plug-in!
    For some reason, I went to add a DOCX file of which I have already uploaded many and I get this error:
    Memphis Error:
    There was an error processing your saved variables file. Sorry the import process can not continue.

    I’ve tried uploading by importing a zip version as well. Nada.

    What am I doing wrong?

    I am calling this category using [mdocs cat="Category Name"], but for this specific category, I want it to only show “Name” and “Download” column ONLY, but on other pages, I want different categories to show columns in table that I have chosen from the Settings section of – Document List Configuration | Controls the style of the document list table

    Hello. First I’d like you to know, I’m enjoying Memphis Docs, before I proceed to discuss the problem I am having.

    When I use the front end upload button,
    1. I need to refresh the page to see the added document
    2. If I refresh again, the document gets added again.

    My work around is I have added a link (Please refresh the page by clicking here after you upload the file) for users to click that send them to a web page that redirects them back, thus clearing the php headers and refreshing the page.

    Thank you so much! Keep it up!

    Hello! I’m really loving the MDocs plugin in, thanks. Just two issues:

    The document posts aren’t linking correctly to their category archives. When I go to the MDocs Posts Menu, I can see each document in its category. But when I click on the category metadata under the post, it returns ‘No Results Found’.

    Secondly, I can’t seem to find the preview button for the documents. I’m getting the download button, but no Local Document Preview in the browser, even though that option is enabled in the settings.

    Really grateful for your help, thanks!

      Categories by WordPress default are not searchable, if you want them to be searchable you will need to add a more robust search plugin.

      As for the preview link, you do not see it in the dropdown menu when you click on your file name?

      Reply
      1. Ebenezer

        The preview link does not show in the dropdown menu, no. The options are: ‘Download’, ‘Description’, and ‘Go to Post’.

        About the categories — not sure if I explained the situation correctly. I meant that in every document’s MDocs post, there’s a line of metadata listing the author, the date of creation, and the categories under which the post is listed. When you click that category link, it returns ‘No Results Found.’

            Hello, Bhaldie. I sent a reply yesterday, but I wasn’t sure if it came through.

            The theme on the site is Divi by Elegant Themes, but I’ve tested the problem with the TwentyTwenty default theme, and the category metadata still doesn’t link to the category archives.

            This page shows a list of recent posts, with each post showing its author, date of modification, and category: http://ieagh.org/publications/
            This is you see if you click the category link: http://ieagh.org/category/occasional-papers/
