Feel free to add a comments below, I will answer as soon as possible.
Thanks for building this nice tool
When i go to upload a new document it goes to a post page and has this error
No Results Found
The page you requested could not be found. Try refining your search, or use the navigation above to locate the post.
Are you uploading from the frontend or the backend?
Any answer as i’m beyond desperate now.
I’m on holidays and have limited access to a computer, my suggestion for now would be to try and roll back to an older version of mDocs and see if the problem goes away. When I get back I will take a look and see what might be causing the issue.
Do you have any older versions i could get hold of??
Just head to the home page and click on mdoxz drop down and click other versions
I’m on the latest version of MDocs but the plugin doesn’t show all my separate docs properly it’s like the UI is broken so i can’t upload new docs or do anything.
Scrap that it seems it was a case of hide navbar
when I try to search to find a document via the search field from WordPress, I find no document (enduser). do you have an idea? But I wrote already the correct Name of the document.
Answer would be great.
Have you enabled Advance Search from the mDocs Setting page?
we use mDocs for our project webpage in order to exchange documents. I expected that a file uploaded by a user cannot be deleted by another user. But unfortunately it is possible. Can I change the settings in a way that only site administrators can delete uploaded files?
If a user has access to the file “Manage File” then they have the rights to delete it. I would have to know more about your setting but if you only want users to be able to upload I would suggest restricting access to frontend upload.
Here is a link for frontend upload options: https://kingofnothing.net/frontend-upload-button-help/
Is there a way to show all the main folders with the files on the dashboard? Right now we can only see one (Documents and files and subfolders in there). But we are unable to see the other main folders we have created.
sounds like you have turned off the Navbar. Goto mdocs dashboard Options > Settings > Configuration Settings > and make sure “Hide Navbar” is unchecked.
thats because u need to insert manualy the shortcode [mdocs] on your page, the button in the editor page has only [mdocs-cat]. [mdoc] shortocode will display the highest level directory
All I want to have displayed is the Name of the file and the file size on the user end. I selected only those two boxes, and it worked. But one issue, under the Name it shows multiple bullets with “File Options, Download, Go to Post”. I don’t want any of these to show. I just want the Name and File Size. How can I get rid of the “File Options, Download, Go to Post”?
currently you can’t do that with mDocs. It is a feature request thou.
I used this css to hide what i didn’t need:
where nth-child(*) is the position of the element in the menu.
Sorry I forgot what is this in regard to?
I recently added this awesome plugin to my site but it appears the shortcodes for defaulting users upload status to pending doesn’t work. Any clues or ideas on why or how to fix?
thanks for the report, I have found the issue and will have it fixed for the next version of mDocs.
Just downloaded the updated version, many thanks for fixing this issue *thumbs up*
Just had another question, is there any functionality within the plugin that allows non-members to upload. The page that we would have the upload button on has already been password protected and will only be given out to specific people, but my client doesn’t want people to have to create accounts.
no non member cannot upload, it would be a dangerous thing to allow this. So there is no plans to allow this to happen 🙂
Yeah that’s what I was assuming 🙂 i tried telling the client this haha.
Many thanks for your prompt responses and help!
Sorry to hassle again but i’m getting issues around the file status and pending.
When a user uploads (the upload window has been defaulted to pending) the file still uploads and doesn’t indicate it’s pending. When i log onto my admin account and go the file it’s status is published, when i change it to pending the little lock appears but the file is still visible and downloadable from the front end on test (non admin) accounts.
This was also the case when i uploaded a new document via the backend on my admin account and specified pending from the dropdown and it’s still visible for users on the front end and has a padlock on the backend.
The site, page and document in question are as follows:
Document is “Just another check – ev2.jpg”
I decided to try and change the file status to private and is still visible on the test account front end.
UGH! Sorry dude ignore my browser has cached and ive been informed by other people that it is not visible V_V
Sorry for the hassle pal, ignore me!!!!
We are building a new site, which we hoped to use the document library in, although the site isn’t complete. We’ve identified that the plugin is causing a conflict with a key element in the theme we are using. We hoped the document library would be a key feature so if there’s any way to resolve it that would be excellent.
To give some brief details we use the Salient Theme version 9.0.1. It’s their ‘Nectar Slider’ element that fails to work when Memphis Document Library plugin is active. Unfortunately, that is a key visual element to a number of pages so we do need it to work.
Our document library version is 18.104.22.168, and we only noticed this problem a week or so ago, so it may be related to a recent update to the library?
I’m unsure what specific technical details you need to look into this, so if you can let me know I’ll get you whatever I can. The current URL is a temporary one, but is correct for the time being.
I tried visiting the web site and the page was blank. Could you give me the url of the issued page and I can have a look.
The homepage is blank currently as it’s in development, but the home page is designed to use the banners which cease to function with Memphis plugin loaded.
I will temporarily re-activate the document plugin and put one of the example sliders on the home page. Part of the problem is that the images get removed from the banners when your plugin is active, so it may just appear black with text. In addition, the back end editing for these ‘Nectar Sliders’ ceases to function properly as well. The options to change images, switch between image and video backgrounds, amend location of content on the slider etc. and the actual buttons on the edit screen itself cease to be graphical buttons and become text that isn’t clickable anymore. I can comparison screen shots if this would help.
Thanks for your assistance looking at this.
Another example page where there is a slider is also https://newweb.wmfs.net/our-plan/prevention/
Hi there, just further to this, I came up upload a couple more documents today and they are failing to upload. I complete the upload form, when complete Chrome shows the document upload % but on completion the folder I uploaded the document to is empty. I’m not sure if this is related to the above, but I was able to do upload documents previously.
this sounds like a server issue, I can’t debug something like that. Take a look at your server logs for more details on what might be the problem. Also take a look at the mDocs compatibility tool and see if your system is compatible.
I would try heading to mdocs dashboard going to Options > Settings > Disable Thrid Party Includes and try disabling some or all of these tools.
As for the tools not working I have a new release coming soon that should address those issues.
Thanks for your help
Using your Disable Thrid Party option for Bootstrap – Dashboard appears to have resolved the issue.
For my peace of mind, what is that actually doing and are there any features or areas that will not be available as a result of disabling this option?
Basically you have bootstrap loaded already probably by your theme, so what the issue is that the 2 bootstrap conflict with each other. You should have no issue moving forward disabling bootstrap from the frontend.
Since the last update on November 12, 2018, no one can download from our site. I cannot figure out how to fix it.
Can anyone help?
can you describe the exact issue, is there any errors what happens when you try to download a file?
I’m really liking the plugin, except since the latest update the description doesn’t display anything. I use the Description for my users to display a table of content regarding the document. The description for each document is still there, except it’s not displaying anything anymore.
Hope you can help me, regardless, thanks a lot for the plugin!
I think it would be a bonus if the documents could also be displayed in lists on specified pages according to the “Categories” name (not to be confused with the folder names). These are post categories that show in the window for “Add New Document”. Then the entire collection of documents could be placed in one folder and displayed according to the (Post) Categories name. That would make it easier for some users to update any document one time and not have to search folders for each copy of the same document to update. Thanks. Very nice plugin!
thanks for the feature request, I will add it to the list. You could do this using the plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/list-category-posts/
I have recently taken over the running of a website which uses Memphis.
However it will not upload or preview documents so I need to learn how to use it but cannot find a tutorial.
Can you suggest a good place to start please?
please disable all other plugins and see if the problem goes away.
Hi… I’m trying to use Memphis on a production intranet wordpress site for a client. It works on my hostgator test site but on this production intranet site it installs but nothing happens when I click the buttons, add documents, folders etc.
I believe its a server configurartion… Do you have any clues about it? Modal windows configuration? Any help would be great!
can you open a browser inspector and see if you see any errors. Report any back to me if you find some.
Hi. I can’t see the names of the files in the list, despite set to display this.
what is it displaying? do any of the other columns not show up? Please disable all other plugins and try again.
Hi. everything else shows up. I see a nice folder list and when I open them I see a file type icon, the number of times downloaded, the link to download. Just the file name missing but space for it is there.
Still the same when it is only plugin active
Hi. Is there a way to add documents to one folder, then copy them individually to other added folders? The folders / categories would need to contain some of the same documents found in other folders, but would be nice to be able to update only once per library instead of wherever the document are contained across all folders. Thanks, it’s really a very nice plugin and has made my customers happy, plus saves me from many headaches! Really great!
it is a feature request, but you can’t do it currently.
I do like this plugin – it does what I want with one exception – In the Folder list displayed to visitors, can you tell me if it is possible to display the number of files contained in a folder please?
it is a feature request but can do it currently.
I am new to Memphis Documents and have taken over a small website for a parent run nursery. Our document exchange server (set up with Memphis) is not working anymore (404 page) and I can’t find the error. I have updated to the latest version and I have troubleshot with your server compatibility test. The only thing it’s complaining about is imagick but I doubt this has an impact on the whole server/page.
Can you please assist? It would be very much appreciated. Thank you so much!
are the files in the mdocs table still visible.
Check your apache server logs for more details on the 404 error. I need more information to be able to debug and 404 is just to generic.
Due to a massive document uploads I had to write an updated script to the post_title column in wp_posts. It worked before, but since the latest update, the script runs and updates the title – you can see it in the single document view perfectly (aka wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=mdocs-posts) , but in folder view (admin and mdoc-Folder shortcode view) it still shows the OLD name (aka /wp-admin/admin.php?page=memphis-documents.php) . BUT when you do a “manage file” update. the columns in the database update and it then shows in the folder view.
Can you assist?
without know what your script is doing I have no way of helping. If you have the script please provide it.
I am having to update the Title of the file directly in the database. In the Memphis Doc view (folder view) it is showing the old name/ Uploaded title, even though It is not showing in the post_title field in the wp_posts table, but, the mDocs view it is showing the Title correctly (pulling from post_title. When you update the file name via the UI, it works.
Please assist asap. I am due to go live tomorrow
im not clear what your issue is. Please clarify where the exact issue is? What is folder view compared to mdocs view?
So we have imported a csv into a table, from there we match the filename to the mdocs filename and update the post title .
update wp_posts set post_title = newcsv.title where post_name = newcsv.filename
update wp_posts set post_title = “Document Title” where post_name = “PB_FileName”
When you view the single file it shows the right title, it is just in the mdocs folder / file listing that it shows the name not the title. I am using your folder short codes to get the folder view onto my pages and this is where i picked up the issue.
When I manually manage the file, and update the title using the mdocs UI, it works perfectly. and if i do a DB check, all the columns are right and look exactly like how my script updates the posts table.
When i run just the script and update the title. the mdoc UI shows the post_name, not the post_title, and if I manually update it, it seems like wp_posts remains the same even though mdocs UI shows the updated title.
My thought was that there was another column that I need to update to get it to show the title and not the name.
so post_title to show in mdocs, not posts_name
I checked the post meta table to but couldnt find an entry for mdocs
I am happy to give you access to everything if you mail me? And thank you again for helping. this plugin saved my project.
Without seeing you script my guess would be that it is not filing out the name of the file. If the name is blank it will default to the name of the file. Just changing the post name will not change the name of the file in mDocs there are to different data field in the WordPress database.
Hey, thanks for the response. can you advise me on the mdocs data field in the db please so I can update my script to change not only post_title but that one as well?
its not that simple mDocs uses a serialized array of data. The data can be retrieved by using the WordPress function get_option('modocs-list'); then you would have to update the array and save it back to the db with the function update_option('mdocs-list', $the_new_array);
Be very careful because if you update the option with a null array all your data will be lost.
